Bas studied at The Royal Conservatory in The Hague with Rob van Bavel and at the School for Advanced Art Studies in Utrecht with Bert Van den Brink . He took master classes with Barry Harris, Fred Hersch and others. He works as a freelance musician with several artists, musicians and groups in jazz and popmusic.
In Belgium and in Europe he played with Jean Warland Trio, Richard Rousselet, Ronny Verbiest, Phil Abraham, Toots Thielemans, Deborah Brown, Judy Niemack, Art Farmer, Clark Terry, Archie Shepp, Ronald Douglas, Johnny Griffin, Danny Doriz, Clare Foster, Rachel Gould, Anca Parghel, Jean Warland, … His piano virtuosity is appreciated by a broad range of musicians who want his cooperation for their projects.
He is also a music teacher and manages the Jazz Department at the Conservatory of Ostend .
In 2011, he created his new trio featuring Bart De Nolf and Bruno Castellucci.

He toured intensively in 2003 through Scandinavia and France, together with Olivier Laurent on a tour de chant in hommage to Jaques Brel.
The following years he cooperated with actor Frank Degruyter, showing his talent for musical composition. They toured in Belgium, Holland and Indonesia.
2007 didn't stop his drive: he gathered young talent to form "Tout Court" playing a jazz-lounge repertoire.
In 2012 he was commissioned to write songs for the he Royal Band of the Belgium Navy
2012 was another move towards musical perfection: he formed his own trio with Bart De Nolf on acoustic bass and Bruno Castellucci on drums. They got a contract from 'The Werf' to record a CD that was released in 2014.
